Ernest Croft Scott was born 07.06.11in the Codner Park area of Alfreton, Derbyshire. Ernest left school at the age of 12 and worked in the copper-mines as a 'pit-pony boy'. He lived with his mother, Harriett Scott & his step father His natural father, Ernest Croft (12.03.1893) died in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Ernest served in the Grenadier Guards from May 1929 to 1st March 1960 and reached the rank of Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant. Ernest was stationed in Northern Africa (Tripoli) in WW2 and was awarded the British Empire Medal for service between 1939 - 1945. Service number: 2611726
Ernest Married Marta Mia Hartmann (10.09.19) & had two sons: John Owen Scott (28.10.38) & Anthony Scott (15.04.1943) The Scott family settled in Woking in the 1950's at Old Malt Way Horsell. Marta Mia Hartmann was born in Chur (Graubunden) Switzerland and moved to England in 1936 where she worked as Housekeeper to Lady Moreshead at Windsor Castle.
